Shed 1 activities

We use this space for coffees and chats except when specific groups meet as shown below.

Technology (9am to 12am)

Geek out with our computer and electronics team which dabbles in everything from laser engraving to Raspberry Pi programming and resolving everyday computer troubles.

Art (1pm to 2:30 pm)

Well-known artist and experienced art teacher Ian Chapman guides a weekly group through the skills of drawing. 


Ukelele (1:30pm to 4pm)

Twang away on everyone’s favourite four-stringed instrument and learn a bevvy of fun songs.


Music (Noon to 5pm)

Lunch (Noon to 2pm) 

Equipped with a full kitchen, a communal lunch is served with members taking turns cooking. Guest diners and guest speakers sometimes fill in as cooks.

Band (2pm to 5pm)

Join a raucous crew of accomplished musicians to play rock, oldies, goldies and more.

Spanish guitar (2pm to 5pm)

Beginners learn acoustic techniques under the guidance of Flamenco guitarist Jorge Campano. Sessions are held in the shed operated by the Glebe Hockey Club, several doors down from Sheds 1 and 2.

Shed 1 now has additional space for members to book for activities — especially in the arts and crafts.

Shed 2 activities


Band (1pm to 5pm)

Join a raucous crew of accomplished musicians to play rock, oldies, goldies and more.

Our woodworking space includes a drop saw, band saw and router table, plus countless hand tools.

Woodworking projects  are among the most popular activities at the PUG Men’s Shed.


Woodworking (9am to noon)

Our workworking facilities require the presence of a supervisor. Members are asked to make arrangements with one of the shed co-ordinators.

Our book group discusses fiction and non-fiction titles selected by members.


Cards (1pm to 3pm on Mondays)

We meet online to play a variety of card games, such as bridge and 500.


Book group (3pm to 4pm, first Monday)

Each month a member nominates a book, non-fiction or fiction, to enjoy and discuss. Recent books include Prisoners of the Castle, by Ben MacIntyre, and The Passenger, by Cormac McCarthy. We meet via Zoom.

Writers’ Group (9-11am, 3rd Friday)

 Members meet to learn about the craft of writing and discuss each others’ efforts to document their life stories.
