MONDAY
Technology (9am to 12am)
Geek out with the computer and electronics team which dabbles laser engraving, 3D printing, Pi programming and fixing computer troubles.
Music (1pm to 4 pm)
It’s jam session time for Jiggy Sawdust and The Extractors (with a focus on novice players).
TUESDAY
Ukelele (1:30pm to 4pm)
Twang away on everyone’s favourite four-stringed instrument and learn a bevvy of fun songs.
WEDNESDAY
Music (9am to Noon)
The Offcuts band gets together to play music in a weekly jam session of golden oldies.
Music (2:30pm to 5pm)
Instrumental ensemble with Flamenco guitarist Jorge Campano.
Music (6pm to 9pm)
The Splinters, another of our shed bands, gets together to play the music of the Boomer generation.
THURSDAY
Lunch (Noon to 2pm)
Equipped with a full kitchen, a communal lunch is served with members taking turns cooking. Guest diners and guest speakers sometimes fill in as cooks.
Band (2pm to 5pm)
Join a crew of accomplished musicians to play rock and more. If you’re new to the shed’s music offerings, this is a good place to start.
FRIDAY
Band (2pm to 5pm)
It’s practice time for the PUG Band and a chance to play the golden oldies.
Shed 1 has space for more activities — especially in the arts and crafts.
Online activities
Our book group discusses fiction and non-fiction titles selected by members.
WEEKLY
Cards (1pm to 3pm on Mondays)
We meet online to play a variety of card games, such as bridge and 500.
MONTHLY
Book group (3pm to 4pm, first Monday)
Each month a member nominates a book, non-fiction or fiction, to enjoy and discuss. Recent books include Prisoners of the Castle, by Ben MacIntyre, and The Passenger, by Cormac McCarthy. We meet via Zoom.
Writers’ Group (9-11am, third Friday)
Members meet to learn about the craft of writing and discuss each others’ efforts to document their life stories.
